I. DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE ORGANIZATION
We meet with key members of the team to learn more about company structure, operations, business strengths, and opportunities for the organization. Additionally, we review relevant documents including business plan summaries, product and marketing literature, and organization charts. Reviewing these materials prepares us for discussing the company and position with prospective candidates and enables us to assess possible candidates in terms of their styles and "fit." All information will remain confidential.
II. DEVELOP THE POSITION DESCRIPTION
The position description outlines the basic responsibilities, title, reporting relationships, compensation, education, experience, and personal characteristics required to perform in the position that we are retained to help fill. This is developed following our initial meetings and, once approved, will serve as a selection guide during the course of the search.
III. IDENTIFY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
A search to identify persons with qualifications that closely match the requirements sought is initiated after the position description has been finalized. To assure a comprehensive and thorough search, we include in our evaluation process any potential candidates for this position whom the client, investors, or other resources are currently considering or may wish to consider. Our experience shows that the best candidates are discovered through research that is designed for the specific search engagement. We utilize file scanning to identify possible candidates known to the firm, and telephone networking into target organizations to identify individuals who meet the position description and have demonstrated success in similar positions.
IV. INTERVIEW CANDIDATES TO ASSESS QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The best qualified potential candidates are personally interviewed to evaluate their accomplishments, capabilities, style, and potential. Following our interview of candidates, we introduce them to the client via written summaries describing their past work experience, education, and other relevant information.
V. PRESENT THE BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
Based on discussions with our client and further assessments by us, the candidates best qualified for the position are presented to the client and their interview team. A written Candidate Presentation is provided to the client detailing the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and our analysis and appraisal.
VI. CONDUCT REFERENCE CHECKS
To protect a candidate's confidentiality, multiple references are generally conducted only after an expression of strong mutual interest by a candidate and the client. At the client's discretion, educational verification and other background investigations, including credit checks and financial status, can be conducted on the selected candidate prior to being hired.
VII. FINAL SELECTION AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
The final selection and offer of employment are usually made by the client. We are available to assist in negotiating appropriate compensation and structuring the compensation offer. We are also available to provide “new manager assimilation” and transition consulting. We follow up regularly during the first six months of employment as part of our commitment.
